About FOG OFF!

What is FOG OFF!?

FOG OFF! is a clear anti-fog patch for swim goggles. It sticks to the inside of each lens and stops your goggles fogging up, so you get clear vision for your whole swim.

How does it work?

The patch uses a specialised anti-fog film. Once you dip it in water and gently rub the film to activate it, it stops condensation forming on the lens, so your goggles stay clear from first lap to warm down.

How long does one patch last?

3+ months of fog-free swims per patch, based on 3+ swims a week. The exact time depends on how often you swim and how you look after your goggles.

Will it fit my goggles?

Yes. One size fits any swim goggle, from racing goggles to open water and kids' goggles. It also fits prescription goggles and keeps them clear, but it doesn't change your prescription.

My goggles keep fogging up. Do I need a new pair?

Usually not. If the strap, seal and lenses are fine, the fog is just the factory anti-fog coating wearing off, and that happens to every pair within weeks. Your goggles aren't broken, it's just the anti-fog! FOG OFF! makes them fog-free again for 3+ months, so you can keep the goggles you already love. Never buy new goggles again (because of FOG!). Broken strap, leaking seal or cracked lens? That's when it's time for a new pair.

What's in each pack?

2 anti-fog patches, one for each lens of a pair of goggles, plus application instructions. Packaging colours vary, but the patch inside is clear and identical in every pack.

Before you apply

Do I need to remove the anti-fog coating that came with my goggles?

Yes, this is essential. Most goggles, including brand new ones, come with a factory anti-fog film or coating on the inside of the lens. It must be completely removed first, or your patch won't stick or work properly.

How do I remove the factory anti-fog film?

Wash the inside of each lens with a little detergent and scrub with a clean microfibre cloth until the factory film or coating is completely gone. It can take some time. Avoid harsh or abrasive materials, which will scratch the lens. Then dry the lens thoroughly.

Applying FOG OFF!

How do I apply the patches?

  1. Remove the factory anti-fog film from the inside of the lens.
  2. Make sure the lens is completely clean and dry.
  3. Peel the RED tab (tab 1).
  4. Position the patch using the BLACK tab (tab 2), nose side first.
  5. Press firmly, starting at the nose edge and working outward.
  6. Happy with the placement? Peel off the BLACK tab.
  7. Dip in water and gently rub the film to activate.
  8. Repeat on the other lens.

How do I activate my patch?

Dip your goggles in water and gently rub the film. Do this before each swim as part of your usual routine. Your patch reaches full strength over your first 2 to 3 swims.

Can I reposition the patch after applying it?

For best results, position it correctly the first time. Small adjustments may be possible straight after applying, but repositioning can reduce how well the patch sticks and works.

I have small air bubbles under the patch. Is that a problem?

Definitely not! Because the lens sits so close to your eye, your brain compensates and the bubbles disappear from view once your goggles are on.

Care

Do I need to remove the patch after each swim?

No. The patches stay in place and keep working swim after swim.

How do I clean my goggles with FOG OFF! applied?

Rinse your goggles in fresh, clean water after each swim. Apart from the gentle rub to activate the patch, avoid touching or rubbing the patch surface. Pat dry gently or let them air dry, and clean the outside of the lens regularly for the clearest vision.

How should I store my goggles?

Somewhere clean, soft and dry, like a goggle case. Don't leave them in a wet kitbag.

Performance

Will FOG OFF! affect my vision underwater?

No. The patches are optically clear and don't distort your vision.

Does it work for open water and cold water?

Yes. FOG OFF! works in cold and warm water, so it suits pool training, open water, triathlon and learn-to-swim.

How is FOG OFF! different from anti-fog sprays?

Sprays, spit and baby shampoo wash off, so you redo them every swim. One FOG OFF! application lasts 3+ months, with nothing to pack or prep poolside and nothing to sting your eyes.

How is FOG OFF! different from the anti-fog coating on my goggles?

Factory coatings wear off within weeks and can't be redone. FOG OFF! replaces the coating and works on goggles of any age, once the old coating has been removed.

Troubleshooting

What if my goggles still fog up?

Check that:

  • the factory anti-fog film or coating was completely removed before you applied the patch
  • the patches went onto completely clean, dry lenses
  • you activated the patch by dipping it in water and gently rubbing the film
  • the patches are firmly stuck down
  • your goggles fit properly and aren't letting water in

Can I remove and reapply a patch?

Once removed, a patch may not stick as well. For best results, apply a fresh patch.

My patch seems to be peeling. What should I do?

Make sure the factory film was fully removed and the lens was completely dry before applying. If a patch peels during use it may need replacing. Contact us if it peels early. We stand behind our product.
